My experience at Valley Hospital had excellent things about it and some negative aspects as well. The first that comes to mind is that the facilities are very clean and well organized. A majority of the staff is courteous and professional, but I did encounter a few personnel that should not have been employed in the recovery field. My counselor, Melanie, was outstanding and I really enjoyed the time I spent with her. I had just come to this hospital after a severe injury and was not accommodated appropriately but was encouraged to focus on the mental health part of my recovery as opposed to the physical, which was not what was best for me at the time. After I left, I felt like an animal that had just been let out of a cage as you spend nearly all your time indoors. The classes and programs that were offered were of average quality. You will be more than likely sharing a room with another person, so if that's an issue please consider it. The food is average and the beds are not great. This is a place where you can achieve success in recovery but if it's not the right time really think about because it is not cheap by any means. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to either detox safely, get well for a month or more, or to anyone that is looking to maintain a lifestyle in recovery. You can absolutely get plugged in here. Best of luck to anyone that is out there searching for a better way to live. Special thanks to Melanie, Ben and everyone in the freedom care wing. Thanks for everything.
