  • I rented a Fiat 500 from their website. It's a economy-class car, but on the site it was priced higher than any other car class below SUV for the week. I assumed this was because it was the Fiat, and I was happy to pay extra for it. When I picked up the car, I was informed that they don't have Fiats at Sky Harbor, and I was "upgraded" to the Nissan Versa. They also said the pricing was a fluke. I showed the clerk my receipt with a picture of a Fiat on it, and I looked up the price of the Versa while waiting. It was $20 less than the Fiat. I was told that they could only upgrade one car class, and they could not upgrade to the price level of the online rental. I called their 1-800 number, and was told the same thing and that I couldn't cancel the reservation. I was tempted to fight the rental with my credit card company, but I would have paid more to rent from another company at the last minute. I returned to the desk to accept my Versa and was walked through the rental process. When I refused the collision coverage, I was offered an upgrade to mid-size if I accepted it, so they were perfectly capable of upgrading me to another class if they wanted to. The whole process took an hour and a half to sort through, and I ended up paying an additional $100 to get a mid-sized car. When I picked up the car, the interior had garbage in it, and the seats were heavily stained. Moral of the story: they don't have the Fiat 500 at Sky Harbor, nor do they have anything "similar", as the website states. The taxes and fees people mention are standard for Phoenix, and they can't be avoided. The pushy sales clerks are also standard for Sky Harbor. The wait time for Advantage was about 10 minutes per customer, and everyone in line ahead of me seemed to have some sort of issue with them.
