  • Avoid this location at all costs. My friends and I were traveling for the week, and chose to stay here for about 2 days while we explore Pittsburgh before moving onto our next destination. To start this off, the rooms are small.....the largest room can fit only about 2 adults. The bathroom was a complete joke, it wouldn't have been bad if you were under 5'0 due to the shower head being so low that you need to get on your knees (I'm 6'0) to wash your hair. There are a LOT of shady people that hang around here, some of the variety where you "pay" for services...literally they were loitering around the property and near some of the rooms. There is 0 security at this place, by that I mean NO safe in the rooms whatsoever, Motel 6s website stats the locations have a lock safe for your belongings (I'll get to my point in a second). Yeah that doesn't exist, and the screens to the rooms had pry marks on them indicating people have tried breaking into rooms. This isn't exactly a good sign, and shows the lack of maintenance done on the property. The lights at the hotel are atrocious, well....the outdoor ones I should say. The lights for the hallways and the motel itself didn't turn on until around 9 or 10 PM, not exactly a good thing and doesn't make this place feel any safer. Lastly, Jessica Jelly is the WORST Manager I have ever come across my entire life. If you want to experience the epitome of someone who is inept at their job, or lacks even the most basic customer service skills....she is the one. We had returned to our rooms on the second night staying at this location to find our personal belongings rummaged through and stolen. A few electronics (laptops, Nintendo 3DS's, a set of car keys, back packs etc) were stolen from our room. No sign of forced entry and no tampering was found with the key card lock. We had to file a police report, and the officer that came to assist us confirmed they get several calls about this location compared to any of the hotels in the surrounding area, mostly involving theft and violence. Our room was completely locked the morning we left, the only person we know of that was in the room was the cleaning lady. So whenever this took place was between her cleaning the room, and sometime during the evening when we got back. Moving on, we spent the night being paranoid and waited until morning to speak to this "Manager". We arrive at the front office, she comes back a bit later from doing "errands". When she got out of the car, you can tell this wasn't going to go smooth. She was completely unsympathetic, and just in general didn't seem to care about the incident. We were calm and collected during the entire 5 minute or so conversation with her. She refused to refund us for the nights we stayed, and only gave 2 FREE STAYS at any Motel 6. She explained that was all she can do, and there was nothing else to it. She seemed "calm" up until we mentioned we were going to contact corporate and seek legal counseling over the matter. Once we dropped these two, she immediately lost it. We were told it was OUR fault our belongings were stolen because we "brought" them with on a trip. She also said they don't keep security cameras because of the legality problems (I wonder why?), and that there was nowhere that stated they need to have room safes (remember, the corporate website guarantees the locations have one). We were told that if we wanted our belongings to be safe, we should have taken them with us when we had gone out into the city. Really? whats the point in having a room where our stuff SHOULD HAVE been safe to begin with. So after she accuses us, she closes the door literally on our friends face. Great customer service right? I don't how she even managed to become a manger in the first place with her short temper and attitude. It wasn't until we read later reviews that we saw several others complain of her doing the same thing to them for the most mundane reasons. Pay the extra couple of bucks and stay at the other places down the street where you'll get better treatment.
