  • I had heard great things about Jardin Nelson long before my first trip to Montreal so I was very excited to be able to finally dine there. I was not disappointed. The location in the Old Port is convenient for tourists like me and upon wing into the outdoor dining area it felt like I had discovered a secret garden. The decor is beautiful, with a few tiers of terraces, a small stage, and lots of greens and flowers. The ambiance is wonderful and both romantic and family friendly. I was able to visit on a night with a live jazz band. I knew they were famous for their crepes, so I ordered the duck crepe. The waitstaff was very friendly and our waitress was extremely attentive and even started a pleasant conversation about the arts with us. The food was the highlight of my trip to Montreal, he best meal I had while I was there. The idea of duck in a crepe is not nearly as mouthwatering as the actual dish served to me. I wish this restaurant was close to home. Mid-meal, it started pouring but the outdoor area was equipped with rain catchers that feed into their plants so we stayed dry the entire meal. There's definitely something especially romantic about spending my birthday night dining in an enclosed garden, in Montreal, in the rain. Half a year later and I'm still reaching about this place to everyone I know and I am looking forward to another visit.
