I'm giving the festival five stars because I (and the friend that I went with) honestly had a really good time and didn't have any complaints. To be fair though, we went on Sunday so I had time to check out what people were saying on the Facebook event page after Saturday and learn from their experiences. The chief complaints were ridiculously long lines to get in and vendors running out of food. We talked to a staff member on Sunday who said there were 20,000+ people there on Saturday and it seems as though the organizers just weren't prepared for such a large turnout.
We arrived on Sunday morning about 15 minutes before they opened the gates. Parking was easy, there was no line for tickets/tokens, and to top it off, the weather was still nice and cool. There were no lines for food and drinks when we first went in so we were able to sample several stands and were already full by the time the lines started to form later in the day. We got a kick out of the Lucha Libre wrestling even though it did take them a really long time to get the show started (they said, "just a few more minutes before we start" about 10 times over the course of 45 minutes). Vendors were all really friendly and everyone who we encountered seemed to be having a good time. We left around 2pm and the line to get in was INSANE. So I would definitely recommend getting there early and that's what we'll do if we go next year, though hopefully the event will also be organized to better accommodate such a large crowd.
Two adults- both eating, one drinking alcohol.
Hours attended: 11am-2pm (arrived at 10:45am).
Tokens purchased: 25 (perfect amount for the duration of time that we were there! May need slightly more if both adults are drinking, slightly less if both are drinking water only. Tacos and water were 1 token, soda and alcohol were 3 tokens).
Total spent: $80
