  • My, but there are a bunch of reviews I just don't understand for Trudeau. Look, not every airport can be like the glorious #1 airport in zee world, Toronto Pearson, but this one ain't bad, people. I mean, if only Laguardia or any variety of US airports could be half this decent, I'd be singing its praises. But it's Canada and I expect a little more from Canada :) I will note that the check-in at United/Air Canada yet again annoyed me (but that seems like its on these airlines themselves and not the complete fault of the airport). My friend was traveling internationally as well, back to the US, yet had to go to the terminal for Air Canada domestic flights because she was transferring in Toronto. How the hell would you know that instinctively? Plan ahead. Get here early. Luckily my issue just had me going one counter over. And my check-in person had the personality of white flour and neglected to inform me that I had been bumped to first class. Personally, I'd love to give someone that news, wouldn't you? Ditto for the gate clerk. I was sitting in my seat onboard when someone came on with a ticket indicating he had the same seat. Flight attendant was confused, said one of us might have to be rebooked because the flight was full. I'm THINKING that maybe I had been bumped up, but didn't say anything because we all KNOW how that looks. Sure enough, after 5 minutes of back and forth, they realized that neither check in nor gate person had given me a new ticket. I blame airport staff for not paying attention because on my way in, I had been bumped and given a new ticket at the gate. Ok... BUT! I still like this airport. Like many things in Montreal, it has that European feel. Food offerings are classy (glad not to see crap like Auntie Annie's pretzels and the like). There is a Starbucks in addition to good espresso bars. Decent amount of bathrooms. Gate areas aren't nearly as awesome as Pearson, however (ie, lack of available outlets). Nexus/Global entry is a breeze. Before I had it, though, entering Canada was not fun at this airport. I was once sent to the scary offices where I was detained for an hour. No explanation. And you're treated like a potential criminal. Hmmm. It's looking like I'll bump this review down to three stars after all.
