| - I came here for the first time last week, and I had so much fun!
I bought a deal for 3 classes for 19.95. I thought it was awesome that gloves are included in this deal (of course with the hope that you sign up for a full membership).
Having never done kickboxing before, I was a bit nervous. I thought it was a great touch that they sit down with you on your first class and go over goals, issues, injuries. I got there early on the advice of my friend, who is already a member. They had time to go over some basic punches, but we ran out of time to go over kicks before class started. This ended up being OK because the level of attention that the instructors gave to first timers was stellar.
The class was fun and challenging. It caters to people of all athletic abilities, sizes, shapes, and ages. I didn't ever feel pressured or embarrassed because there wasn't something I couldn't do. The instructors quickly recognize when you are struggling and jump in to help you.
The ladies that were teaching the class that day: Emm and Jenn, were absolutely awesome. Emm, was very patient and encouraging. Jenn was a badass and kept things light-hearted while still driving everyone on. Rizza, the instructor at my second class was also awesome! She can quickly recognize your abilities and caters her instructions based on that. That staff here is truly great!
My ONLY only complaint about this place is the cost. There is a $179 sign up fee just to even be a member PLUS your $100 + monthly fee (based on if you do 6 or 11 months). They do give you a $100 "gift card" which can use towards the initial sign up fee (making it $79 one-time). They did say the classes never expire. I'm not sure what the fine print is about that.
It's really a shame. I'd like to have a pay-as-you-go option. I'm not going to make such a financial commitment based on only a few classes. I would probably only be going 1/2 times a week on account that I have two other gym memberships.
I hope the franchise owners can understand the benefit of offering a pay-as-you-go option. I think more people would be more likely to commit.
