If it hadn't been for our real estate agent alerting us of the extreme potential liability and our sharp attorney, we could have easily been on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars due to at the very least, ignorance by Equity Title. They used the wrong form in a FIRPTA situation that would ultimately caused us to be liable for paying the sellers taxes. I believe Equity Title acted in a reckless and irresponsible manner. Not only were they willing to turn a blind eye to an obvious mistake we pointed out, but they had the nerve to act indignant about it. I would be very cautious in using this company.
