| - Absolutely thrilled we decided to stay at Hotel Monaco on our recent trip to Pittsburgh. We had never stayed at a Kimpton property before and now they will be my first choice! Everything was just super easy and enjoyable throughout our stay. Desk attendants were friendly and helpful and the phone was answered in 2 rings the few times we called down. The ambiance is fun, energetic and spunky, which was a nice change from the brands we usually stay with.
This hotel has a great restaurant (we didn't actually eat here this time, but I had been there before) and a rooftop biergarden that had fun table games (think Jenga and bananagrams). I'm so stinkin' bummed we missed the (free!) wine happy hour from 5-6. The room it's held in looked so cozy, modern and cute. Would have been a fun pre-date with my husband but we lost track of time walking around downtown.
As a rewards member (I signed up before our stay), we received a $10 credit that was good toward the minibar, biergarden or the restaurant. Even a little $10 credit was enough to make us feel special and like we were being treated during our stay. We enjoyed relaxing at the hotel so much we cancelled our dinner reservation and got room service in our pjs instead...I mean really, how often is that an option? :) Also the minibar was stocked hardcore - no skimping here. Patron, Grey Goose, Champagne, 3 different wines, mixers, local beers, tons of snacks... pretty sure it's possible if we get to stay again we may never leave the property!
Oh and p.s. there are a couple of under $10 overnight parking garages nearby (one right around the corner and the other on Oliver) if you don't want to spring for the $30ish valet.

I have to also mention I was here as a guest for an event in the Rialto Suite and it is pristine. The room itself is gorgeous, with a great entry way that makes an impact upon arrival. There is a private bathroom, bar and an amazing terrace with stylish outdoor seating. The food we enjoyed for lunch was catered by The Commoner and it was AMAZING. I enjoyed grilled chicken in a lemon beurre blanc sauce over pureed cauliflower served with spring vegetables. I was actually sad to get full. If you're considering having an event here - do it! Your guests will love not only the suite itself but the ambiance upon arrival to the hotel, which i think totally sets the tone for any event.
