| - Fantastic ice cream.
I go to First Friday at least every other month, and every time there's a line that goes way out the door of this small ice cream joint. Since it's gotten colder, the line was a little shorter yesterday and I'm extremely glad we finally experienced Melt.
First off, dude! They were playing 80's dance pop and people were dancing. As soon as you go past the threshold, it's almost impossible not to shake your leg to the fun retro vibes going on. The decor is pretty cool too. I don't like the description 'hipster,' but that's what this place is. A hipster ice cream joint. And it totally nails it man.
So, let's get to the ice cream. There were flavors like grasshoper lemongrass, key-lime pie, and other weird flavors. The most normal one was vanilla bean, and they even spelled it a different way so that the level of normalcy was kept at a minimum. I went for 1 scoop of fruity pebbles, and 1 scoop of cookie monster. The fruity pebbles tastes exactly like the cereal. Imagine mixing milk, fruity pebble cereal, and maybe oreo icing together and chilling it-- that's what it tastes like. Then there's the cookie monster...
DUDE, I'm in love with the cookie monster flavor. It tastes like oreo mixed with some kind of delicious batter-flavored ice cream that is just difficult to describe. It's seriously tasty though. I'm already craving it, and now Baskin Robbins is basic. Thanks Melt, for ruining other ice cream for me. You raised the bar way high!
