| - First of all, congratulations to Allure Body Bar for winning NOW Magazine's Best Beauty Spa of 2014 award! I've been coming to Allure Body Bar for my waxing needs since 2012 but only recently started Yelping and writing reviews, so this one is long overdue. I originally came to Allure on a whim when my usual esthetician was out of the country on holiday and I desperately needed an emergency wax. I found their website through Google and booked an appointment online (and I still book all my appointments like this to this day; it's a super useful tool!)
My very first Allure experience was with Alaa, and up until that point, only one other person had ever waxed me. I regularly get a full leg and brazilian wax, along with other services, and I'm naturally shy, so it was a big step for me to let a new person near those crucial (and private) areas with hot wax! I left Allure that day so happy with my experience, and regretting that I would have to contact my old esthetician to let her know I wouldn't be booking appointments with her anymore. I was recently living in Richmond Hill for four months and as a result, had to go elsewhere for my waxing needs. I tried many other establishments with high ratings on Yelp, but none of them came close to the waxing experience Allure had conditioned me to come to expect. I am SO glad to be back in Toronto, and this is one of the biggest reasons why!
Allure Body Bar is located right near Pape Station, and I commute there by TTC every three weeks from Keele & Eglinton. To me, it is totally worth the trip. Since day one I've always felt welcomed and so well taken care of at Allure. Alaa and Frank are amazing business owners and wonderful people, and the team they have assembled is made up of hand-picked, quality professionals with a passion for depilation! Their business is all about super clean, comfortable, quick and efficient hair removal, without breaking the bank. Over the years, I've watched the business transform into the awesome, vibrant space it is today.
Alaa has been my go-to listener through an entire two-year relationship, through the ups and downs. She has always been the one person I talked to about how things were going between my now-ex and I, and every time I'd show up for a wax, she'd pick up the conversation like we had just been talking three hours ago and not three weeks ago. She is simply amazing like that: truly listens and connects with you and will remember things about your conversations that you've already forgotten about! When Alaa waxes me, I don't even notice the pain, and time flies. (Literally! Ever heard of a Quickzilian? (;)
I used to get Alaa to do all of my waxing, but now she does not wax as often and I typically see Luba or Christina for my waxes and they are also highly skilled and fantastic ladies. When Luba waxes me, I feel so relaxed I could take a nap right there. She has a very gentle touch and is great for full leg waxes; she leaves no hair un-yanked! Christina is newer to the business, but I love getting waxed by her! I love the way she does my eyebrows and her method of doing brazilians is so painless and fast. To my knowledge, there is a new waxologist on the team now. I believe her name is Autumn, but at the time that I am writing this review, I have not been waxed by her yet. I will certainly update in the future when I have.
Allure Body Bar is their name, and waxing is their game. You grow it, they mow it. If you've got hair to remove and are looking to find your waxing forever home, look no further. Take my word for it!
