| - Aliante Station is a fine option if you're looking to avoid the crowds and prices of The Strip or the anarchy of Fremont street. Nice place to make sports bets too.
I've been here a few times because we have family in North Vegas, and this seems to be a popular option for the locals. It doesn't have all the classic Vegas action and excitement that you'll find on The Strip, but sometimes that's just what you're looking for. We came into town for the Super Bowl, and after hearing that this was the second biggest weekend of the year for Vegas (the first being New Year's Eve), we decided it'd be best to stay away from the crowds.
They've got a decent number of tables, most of which have nice and low buy-ins. I hung out at the $5 roulette table for a while, which was fun but the dealer wasn't very good at her job. She kept closing bets way too quickly, sometimes before we could even get $5 on the table. She also didn't treat me very well, constantly picking numbers that weren't mine. But even if I lost some money, at least I didn't do nearly as bad as the dude next to me, who must have blown through $6000 in 20 minutes. Woah.
But what I lost in roulette, I made up in Super Bowl bets. They've got a nice big area dedicated to sports bets, with a quality selection of betting options. I hear it doesn't compare to the Hilton, but Jordy Nelson's first touchdown brought me in a cool pile of money, which made them alright in my book.
I had a few complaints about the service... the bartender didn't even acknowledge that we were waiting on her as she chatted with a pal, the cocktail waitress took half an hour to bring us a beer, and I already mentioned the roulette dealer. And it wasn't even that crowded. But all that aside, it was a fine, tame place to gamble on low stakes tables without crowds of drunken morons yelling "Vegas baby!" every five minutes. If that's what you're looking for, Aliante is worth checking out.
