My dinner partner has been mentioning this restaurant for several months. I think he was most taken by the catchy name. I was not particularly anxious to drive clear across the valley for dinner when I have three stalwart Vietnamese restaurants close by. But because I am a food adventurer I acquiesced to his repeated suggestion.
This diner (I will not describe it as a restaurant) is in a shopping center serving, what might be described as the Asian market, adjacent to an Asian/international supermarket.
It was clean and had a number of patrons. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our service throughout the evening was courteous and gracious.
I requested from our server than my order be the house specialty pho', which she identified as #1. I made a point of telling her that I consider the 'side vegetables' an important part of my meal and that I use/eat ALL my side produce (people who eat pho' know what I'm talking about).
When my dinner was served I had to stop myself from exclaiming out loud. The first thing out of my mouth was to tell my dinner companion that was the last meal I would have at 'Un pho gettable.'
The pho' is nearly twice the cost of all three locations in CenPho (central Phx). The dish of produce additives was so conservative that I still huff to think about it. And, the flavor (lack thereof) of the broth/meat was disappointing.
Service and cleanliness is very important, hence the three stars.
