  • Seafood is in my blood. I love all types - fish, shrimp, clams, octopus, oysters and even more exotic items like geoduck and sea urchin - you name it, I've eaten it and loved it! My usual spot for seafood has been the Asian markets because of the fresh varieties and low prices - and because I try to support local businesses. Lately I've had a strong craving for crawfish. Unless you live in Alabama/Louisiana area, it's difficult to get live crawfish, especially now when they're going out of season. I've tried satisfying my cravings with the frozen crawfish from the supermarket- just a waste of money. I've tried ordering them at restaurants- it's good, but not great because I cook them a specific way with different ingredients and that's what I'm craving. Finally, I decided to go online and see what I could find in the local area. I called and was told they had roughly 40 lbs of live crawfish but because it's been a few days, they may not all be in good shape. It's almost an hour drive from my house but I was craving it so bad, I forced my brother to get it for me. My brother went in and purchased the whole supply of crawfish. By the time he got to my house and I started cleaning them, I noticed more than half were dead. It's difficult to tell in the bags they were sold in which is why he bought them. I called the shop and let them know more than half were dead. They were very apologetic and asked us to bring them back which we did the next day, minus the live ones we cooked and ate. Once we got there, they wanted to refund us everything for our troubles. That's way more than we expected- we weren't trying to get a free meal, just didn't want to pay for the ones that were dead. The worker there weighed the amount we brought in and gave us our money back. No questions, no accusations, just an honest company doing the right thing and even wanted to make it up to us (which we refused.) I'm very impressed with the way they handled the situation and the customer service I received was top notch. Their willingness to work with us is exactly the reason I'll drive an hour to buy fresh seafood from them again.
