  • My party and I checked in on Thursday, July 30th, 2015. On arrival to the room, the air was noted to be compromised. After sleeping the first night, my guests and I awoke feeling terribly ill with associated respiratory symptoms which included, coughing, sneezing, headache and a sore throat. These symptoms slowly diminished after leaving the premise of the room and entering the lobby and outdoors. This was brought to the attention of a service attendant at the front desk. A request was made for maintenance to assess the ventilation of the room. When this was done, it was visibly noted that the vents were NOT changed and utterly disgusting and were dated January 24. This was the cause of our illness which tarried during our entire stay at the Westin. Despite being moved to another room, the symptoms persisted and medications were purchased to attend to our distress. When brought to the attention of Manager, my party and I were given an "I'm sorry, that is all I can say". After disclosing pictures of the filthy vents that were left untreated, expressing our discontent with the room; I asked if we could be moved to alternate room. This was done. However, the trauma from this stay is still present. We also requested a refund of the room amount which is in process. We were given a written letter to notify of the time frame that this would take. We also requested a refrigerator which was never received after multiple calls were made. During the move from room to room, I forgot a folder of important documents. When I later called to follow up on its whereabouts, I was informed from housekeeping via a letter that the folder was accidently discarded. Overall my stay at the Westin from July 30th - August 2nd was terrible. It was one bad event after the next. It never seemed to improve even after disclosing our concerns to management. In addition, my party along with other Westin guests was stuck in the elevator from the Main Lobby going up. Thankfully, with prayer, we were able to get out of the elevator safely. I will not be returning to this hotel or any other Starwood affiliations.
