  • I got kicked off the ttc last night because I didn't know you needed a transfer for proof of purchase. I thought transfers were for... transferring? The last time I was on one, we didn't need it all the time, just when switching lines etc. The attendant was going to fine me and pointed to the tiny signs that I was supposed to have read before or while hopping on (mind you, just after I had witnessed a small car accident and one sign seemed to be in the general direction of behind me when I got on... so I would have only seen it when I was getting off??). Rules are rules, okay I get it.... but... What made me most upset was that when I had gotten on, the driver didn't seem at all concerned, and he was just like "okay" when I told him I didn't need a transfer because I wasn't transferring lines. This point, when I told the attendant (cop??), actually seemed to infuriate him, it wasn't the drivers' responsibility, it was mine and mine alone? What if I was from out of town? What if I couldn't read English that well? What if I wasn't wearing my glasses/contacts cuz sometimes I'm too lazy to put them on? What if, and this was the case for me last night, I haven't taken the TTC in like a year and didn't know to look out for two stupid signs in random spots in the streetcar? I hate you TTC. You suck... and you've grinched out some of my holiday spirit. I thought I would be a good person and not bike home because I was going to a dinner with wine and whatnot but I'm a fool to have not avoided the TTC as I didn't even drink much anyways. If you're going to keep hiking the prices, at least include some courtesy training for your staff, cuz some of them could really use it, and in the very least invest in some larger signs posted right at the door. If possible, do mental examinations to whoever it is that checks for POP, I'm sure they hate their jobs but, they need not be jerks. Better yet, why not take off some of that advertising spam on the streetcars/buses themselves and just make it a giant sign telling everyone that a transfer is NOT just for transferring anymore, it's not like you guys are using any of the advertising money for anything that is of service to the greater good of Toronto. I will gladly pay for services, but NOT for disservices like people being douchebags. I would rate TTC zero stars if I could.
