The Calgary Humane Society is an amazing organization with an awesome group of people behind it. We went there to adopt our second rabbit and the people there could not have been better. We went in there not really knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by it all. The people were incredibly helpful, informative, and kind. You could tell they really care about all the little critters there.
They let us go into a room and brought us a few different rabbits (one at a time) for us to meet so we could find the one that really fit with us. They even offered to let us bring in our current rabbit to meet the rabbits there (like a play date) and see which one he got along with best. We found the perfect bunny and the two have been best friends ever since. She is a wonderful addition to our home.
The Humane Society had already given her a full check-up and fixed her (as they do with all the animals) so we didn't have to go through the stress of taking her in for surgery. We also got a voucher for a free check-up at a bunny friendly vet after we took her home. She is a little shy, but perfect.
It is hard to go there and see all the animals in need of help, stuck in a small place without a loving family to take care of them, but they are in good hands with the fine folks there. If you are at all thinking of adopting any sort of furry or not so furry friend, please look into this place. It is worth the trip.
