  • Wigle Whiskey along Smallman Street is a local family owned and operated distillery right here in Pittsburgh. If you get a chance I'd highly recommend a tour of the facility, you won't regret it. You'll follow Phillip Wigle through the Whiskey Rebellion and the grain-to-bottle manufacturing process for a variety of spirits made on site. The small, industrial bar offers a short list of seasonal cocktails throughout the year. And, for as long as I've been visiting the cocktails have continued to be $6, which seems reasonable to me. My favorites have always been those that contain Ginever, just a personal favorite of mine. They also serve flights for $10, a great way to try several of the distillery's spirits (whiskey, gin, vodka, absinthe). The bar area contains several large stainless steel tables to gather around as you enjoy your libations; however, expect to be standing around those tables as there are not many seats available. Did you know that they host labeling parties? A few times a month, the distillery invites guests to lend a hand and be a part of the grain-to-bottle process. As you sip on your cocktail(s) and munch on some snacks you apply the Wigle labels to the bottled spirits for resale. If you begin to apply those labels crookedly I'm sure your bottles won't make it to the distillery's shelves. Go support this local small business!
