  • I've been hearing the buzz about Tarbell's for the past six years. I finally tried it out. It was restaurant week - fixed menu. The soup course was borscht, followed by Cornish game hen with root veggies and for desert a lemon tart with raspberry sorbet. Alright, I have to vent...I come from a family of skilled borscht chiefs!!! ;) While the dish Tarbell's called borscht was pretty good it was by no means borscht. Does that make sense? Well, if you're Ukrainian, Russian, Polish or some sort of Slavic it will. The Cornish game hen was really delicious, seemed like the perfect meal for a cool fall day. Crap, this is Phoenix and it doesn't cool off until December!! Sorry, got a little carried away with my fantasy. Back to the meal - the desert was amazing! Lemony goodness + a flavorful scoop of raspberry sorbet = happiness!!! All in all Tarbell's scores 4 stars by me but don't take my word for it just eat it.
