| - I checked out this place for the first time the other day with a good friend. First off, upon entry....I LOVED the music. Any time I step into a place and they are playing "Umi Says" by Mos Def, I feel like I am HOME! Singing, "Umi said shine your light on the world. Shine your light for the world to see..."
The vibe is very cool and hipster. We sat in the back upper level and it was a bit smoky from the grill, but tolerable. It smelled like I was at a cookout. I hard a hard time figuring out what I wanted. But I love trying out different beers, and they have a nice variety of interesting beers. I had the Crimson Hibiscus that was recommended by the waitress.
My friend had the Soup of the Day, Spicy Chicken Noodle and Tortilla and Grilled Cheese. She did not complain, and it looked good. I finally decided on the 650 Bean Cakes. Ok so at first bite, I was a little taken back by the flavor. It was a little bit charred. But just on the edge of one of the bean cakes. It came with guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Once I incorporated that in to the mix, it worked and I enjoyed it. But then I just got tired of eating it. I don't think I will order that again. However, I kept seeing all of these HUGE burgers passing me by, so I am definitely going to give the spot another try, and order one of the burgers.
*still singing* "I aint no perfect man. I'm trying to do the best, that I can with what it is I have."
