| - The Cedar Lee is everything I want in a theater.
First -- prices. This theater is actually pretty cheap, and they seem to have specials nearly every day of the week. Mondays are discounted, Thursdays are student nights. I certainly can't complain!
Second -- concessions. Everything is... not that expensive. Popcorn is reasonable, as are the largest sodas you'd ever want (about $3.50 plus tax). They even sell wine and beer!
Third -- the movie selections. They don't seem to have big-budget movies, which is fine. That market is served by plenty of other movie theaters in the Cleveland area. The movies shown here tend more on the indie side of things (a lot of Sundance and Cannes picks, Fox Searchlight and Magnolia productions, you get the drift). The Cedar Lee projects the quirkier side of cinema, and I like it. They also have themed nights and cult screenings (The Room, Rocky Horror, etc.)
Fourth -- the atmosphere. The interior isn't too up to date. It's not a Regal Cinemas. But it's clean and the seats are comfortable. Some of the screens might be smaller than you're used to, but the theaters themselves are scaled to match. Not a problem!
Fifth -- the employees are awesome. On a whim I entered around 9:30 on a Saturday night, asked for the next ticket to any movie, and the staff was more than happy to recommend a movie and even asked me afterwards if I liked it. I felt like they actually cared about my experience, and that's something I really appreciate. The team working the concessions is great too, especially the guy with the accent!
Definitely hit this place up if you're looking for a movie off the beaten path. There's plenty of bars and restaurants to hit up before and after, so make an evening out of it!
