| - Disclaimer: this is my review as a vegetarian, who found the veggie sandwich disappointing.
My boyfriend and I tried the Underground Butcher for lunch for the first time. He got the roast beef sandwich, which he absolutely *loved,* which is why I granted the 3 stars. I subtracted 2 stars because the only vegetarian sandwich (the butter and radish sandwich) was pretty disappointing. I don't say this as someone who expects a butcher shop to cater to my diet as a vegetarian, but because it seems as if they could make a significantly better vegetarian sandwich given the ingredients they have on hand. They have wonderful cheeses, pickled veggies, and sauces throughout the store and as ingredients in other sandwiches, but fail to include any of them in the vegetarian option.
Instead, the butter and radish sandwich has a set of ingredients that together form a pretty bland combination: kimchi cultured butter, spring radishes and spicy mustard greens on a demi baguette. It essentially tasted like bread and butter! All of their sandwiches are pretty reasonably priced, however.
Other than that, there is nowhere to sit inside the store, so if you buy a sandwich, you'll have to eat it at another location.
