| - Bartram is OK. It has a good atmosphere to meet others and chat over a coffee and a pastry.
That being said, the coffee is self-serve and isn't that good, or even that hot. The pastries look A LOT better than they taste (everything I had ever taken a bite of, was tasteless and dry). And their vegan menu options are non-existent, except for black coffee.
It's disappointing, because when you walk into a Bartram's, it looks quaint yet professional. But the closer you walk towards the counter, the menu is chalked behind the cash register, making it hard to read (not well-designed). I loathe bad menu design in cafes and restaurants because I give up reading. Maybe there is something I can veganize on the menu - but I didn't catch it, because it has no flow.
This is probably a place where suburban Moms can bribe their kids to be well-behaved, while they grocery shop at Market District - and then pretend to reward blind young tastebuds with something that looks amazing.
It looks great on the surface, but falls short of expectations once you actually order something. {How did this get a second location??!!}
