| - Let me start by saying I totally disagree with another reviewer who said this place looks like a pub/sports bar when you first walk in. It doesn't, in my opinion. You want the feeling like you are walking into a sports bar? Go to Zipps down on Camelback and Miller. THAT's a sports bar, and definitely not a pub.
So, me and my Complimentary Force, aka SO, aka, Mrs., went here for the first time this past Sunday. We live within walking distance and always said we would try it, as we have with many of the other breakfast joints in Old Town.
Service - 5 stars. The entire staff was friendly, smiling and seemed genuine. Our server, Miguel, was super nice, informative and if he didn't know the answer to a question, like, "hey, who makes your bread", he would go find out.
Food - Okay, I would like to go higher, but this is based on my personal food preferences. I'm giving the food 4 stars because as FRESH, WELL PREPARED and THOUGHTFUL everything was, the caramelized onions were too sweet for me. I had the chorizo omelette and the presentation and flavor of the chorizo was great. The potatoes were yummy and the marble rye bread was really tasty, made by a local Phoenix bakery that sells to restaurants only (thanks for the info, Miguel!) The rosemary crème fraîche that was included was distinctively wonderful. My included side was the flannel hash, which tasted like it used both russet and sweet potatoes. Again, very good, just too sweet.
My lady love had the southwest flannel hash, and like the chorizo omelette, the caramelized onions were too sweet but everything else about it, meat, potatoes, etc... were very good.
Neither of us are huge into sweet-tasting food (we're sweet already!) so that's where the lack of 5 stars comes from.
Coffee - great! Both the leaded and unleaded (that's caffeinated and decaf for anyone not savvy to the lingo).
I would definitely recommend Daily Dose to anyone and will also eat here again.
Bon appetit!
