| - Let me start my review by saying that the view and experience here are 5 stars and definitely worth at least one visit. Every seat in the rotating restaurant has a view of the city, but we were happy to be sitting right beside the window. It was such a fun and exciting dinner to be able to look out over Las Vegas at 106 stories. The restaurant slowly rotates, and we made it about 2 turns in the 2 hours we were there. It is a unique experience that we are very glad to have had. I would recommend going here at least once for the view and experience alone.
However, I weight my reviews heavily on the food. Most of the time, that is why you're at a restaurant. In this case, the food is not the reason you're at the restaurant. I was suspect of this before coming, but had hoped the food would be amazing too. For the fine dining price tag of $200+ for a couple, I was underwhelmed by my meal. I had the wedge salad, the ribeye, and the sautéed mushrooms. I also tried some of the New York strip and potato puree. The wedge salad wins the highest ratings of the night; really no complaints about it. The ribeye was disappointing. Ribeye is my favorite cut of steak, and I get it at almost every steakhouse I go to. Not kidding when I say I've had better ribeyes at Texas Roadhouse. When compared to the ribeyes I've had in Louisville at the same fine dining price point, it's almost laughable. The ribeye was described as being topped with a "horseradish parmesan crust," which sounded wonderful, but was executed poorly. To me, a crust meant a layer cooked into the meat. This "crust" was not cooked at all. It was a large disk of a horseradish mixture placed on top of the steak. The mixture was primarily horseradish and a little parmesan, and the texture was that of mashed potatoes. Not a crust in anyone's opinion. After the first bite, I realized the horseradish topping was extremely overpowering (and I love horseradish), so I pushed it off. Unfortunately, there wasn't much saving grace underneath. The meat itself was very bland; not much seasoning at all. Though it was cooked medium as requested, there was no sear or crust on the outside of the meat, which added to the blandness. Sorry to pick it apart, but I was not impressed by the ribeye. Believe it or not, the mushrooms were even worse as far as flavoring goes. So bland. I love mushrooms, but these had no flavor. I do not recommend either of these items. I did have a bite of the NY strip, but it's hard to judge just a bite. Compared to what I was eating, it tasted much better. My friend seemed to enjoy her filet, so maybe I chose the wrong steak. I also tried a bite of her potato puree, and it was pretty good, so maybe I chose the wrong side.
Although my description of the food is negative, my overall time at this restaurant was still positive. As I said, the views and experience you will have here are worth the price tag. If you are visiting Vegas, I would recommend coming here for that alone. I found the experience so enjoyable that I would even come here again and try something else off the menu. If you want to experience the views without the fine dining experience, the restaurant has a Sky Lounge up one floor and in the center (it doesn't rotate), but I really enjoyed being right next to the window and the rotating feature.
