| - Hoppin' is an awesome addition to the Charlotte beer and wine scene! We went around 2:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. There was a small line out the door - we were in a one in, one out situation - with about a 10 minute wait. While the wait was mildly annoying, once we got in, I was glad they restrict the number of people coming in/out. It was crowded, but not shoulder to shoulder overwhelming. Our greeting was friendly, but not overly helpful. They check your ID and put a credit card on file that is linked to the wristband you receive. This was our first time at Hoppin' and we were essentially left to figure it out on our own.
There are about 70 taps on the walls, maybe 10 for wine, 3 for cider and the rest for beer. There's a tap list available hanging near the taps - grab it immediately. The taps each have a number that you'll also see on the tap list. There are glasses below all of the taps - they ask that you get a fresh glass for each pour. Find the tap you want, grab a glass, and tap the square in your wristband to the Hoppin logo at the bottom right of the tap. Once the light at the top turns green, you are free to pour as much (or as little) as you want. On the home screen of each tap, you'll see how much each beer costs by the ounce. Once you stop pouring, you'll see how many ounces you poured and how many you have poured overall. You have a 32 oz. limit before you need to check back in with an employee. When you're done, you just drop your wristband at the front and walk out the door - nothing to review, nothing to sign.
We had a great time and enjoyed some unique beer. I'm looking forward to going back!
