You just finished the Hoover Dam tour, and you're in a hurry to get to the Travelodge in Kingman since you have to get to the Grand Canyon in the morning. But alas, you forgot to get your Hoover Dam shot glass to go with your Hoover Dam playing cards and Hoover Dam beer stein.
You're in luck because the Hoover Dam Lookout Gift Shop is just a couple of hairpin turns away from the dam on the Arizona side. It's a non-descript building that looks like a trailer that lost its wheels (see my photo). However, it is chock full of Vegas and Grand Canyon souvenirs, as well as your standard array of Hoover Dam memorabilia. You can even get your own hot dog from their little roller machine if you are desperate for processed meat products at this point in your road trip.
As the name of the store indicates, you can look out onto the less spectacular Lake Mead side of the dam (see my photo). Watch out for the tour buses in the parking lot since they aren't exactly looking to avoid thoughtless tourists meandering aimlessly to their vehicles. Now I know why this is called the Lookout...they mean "LOOK OUT!!" Good luck building that Hoover Dam shrine at home. Your neighbors will be envious.
