  • You gotta love Heinz Field! It was a great experience to be at the Pitt vs. PSU game yesterday! It set a record for the largest attended sporting event in Pittsburgh history, with 69,983 people in attendance. The stadium usually seats 68,400 people. This means that almost 1,600 people were there with SRO tix. I think our next chance of beating those attendance records will be if we host SB57, which I hope happens. Seems hard to believe Heinz Field is 15yrs old this season. First home game was played here in Oct 2001 against the Bungles lol. My father and I have Pitt season tix for at least 10yrs now. I've enjoyed every single visit to Heinz Field over the years! Pitt vs ND games will always be my fave memories. My uncle David is a notable ND grad and would visit from California with lots of family each time we played the Fighting Irish. We had great times tailgaiting in the past and even one year about 20 of us sat in the first two rows of the end zone opposite the scoreboard. Last Pitt season we got suite tix for 4 games which was a great time. Needless to say, every Steelers game is always a blast! Late in the fall you can watch the WPIAL high school championship games played here. Lots of big name musicians hold concerts here in summer months. I remember coming for a couple tapings of the Jerome Bettis show in the FedEx Great Hall, which also has some great sports memorabilia on display. Last season with the addition of new seats, they also renovated the area under the scoreboard with new food vendors such as Papa John's, Burgatory and others. Awesome this year Pitt dropped it's "dry campus" rule and now sells beer at the games. There are lots of other fun things to do on the city's North Shore surrounding the stadium...be sure to check it out! Go Steelers!!
