| - Preventing the mistreatment of animals is a crusade of mine. Since animals cant speak for themselves when they are being, I try to be their voice. I've seen and read a lot about this place. It may label itself a "conservation center" but IT IS IN FACT, A ZOO. These owners are SNEAKY! The definition of a "Conservation Center" is that animals are put in a LARGE habitat which mimics their natural environment. Small cages in a backyard property in the extremely hot and dry scottsdale desert is way too hot and NOT A NATURAL ENVIRONMENT for most of these poor, beautiful wild creatures.
On top of being a zoo, it's quite small -- even for zoo standards. In fact, it is the SMALLEST ZOO OR CONSEVATION CENTER I've ever seen or heard of. The cages these animals are kept in are smaller than they should be, not allowing animals to experience or hide, and lack meaningful amounts of shade. The animals, including the Mexican Grey Wolves at SWCC are non-native to Arizona and are kept outdoors in the sweltering heat 24/7.
Also on display here at southwest wildlife are ARCTIC wolves and ARCTIC foxes.
Whats next to be stored outdoors in the Arizona desert at your zoo, SWCC?? Polar bears? Penguins?? This is total insanity!!
Long haired animals from the North and/or Arctic animals have business being IN THE AZ DESERT! It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that this is a very bad idea, and I dont understand how this is allowed by the state or the federal government.
Bottom line here: If these people at SWCC really loved animals, they wouldn't be keeping them outdoors in small cages in the middle of Arizona desert.
Their motivation appears to be one thing: making $25 admission fees AT THE EXPENSE OF THESE ANIMALS CAPTIVITY and SUFFERING!!!!
I think its great that southwest wildlife provide care for sick or injured animals, but I also believe that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE HEALTHY WOLVES, COYOTES, TIGERS AND BEARS should be set free -- IMMEDIATELY --back into their natural habitats, and NOT kept on display for profit for brain-dead, dumb tourists who think zoos in the middle of the extremely hot desert are "wonderful" and a "must visit."
Instead of paying the $25 admission fee to this place, I would recommend you take your $$ and donate it to an animal rights groups that work to prevent places like this from existing.
Wild animals should be FREE and in the WILD, not trapped in cages for tourists to ogle over. Period!
