| - OK, so check this out. I know I have been long dormant with the Yelp reviews (bad girl, BAD GIRL!), so to make it up to ya'll, I am now embarking on a casino-by-casino tour of my new hometown of LV, NV, and will include reviews of each as I tour them. Now, these will not include room stays, but just schlepping around the premises - eating, drinking, and checking out anything that moves or doesn't move. Got it? OK, let's proceed...
Review #45:
has a hip/trendy look & feel to it; most of the high-end spots are either up in the towers (e.g. Alize, Ghost Bar - both of which I love) or somewhat hidden from view (N9ne, NOVE); I think The Palms is lacking in cool mid-range eateries - you have to go down a long tube of moving walkways to get to Simon (in the adjacent Palms Place), which has a great look & setting, but seems underutilized due to its distant location from the casino; the food court does have both an Earl of Sanwich and Chronic Tacos, which is pretty impressive, though ambience (next to the movie theaters) is zero; the conference room area is appropriately modern-looking, with a big bar (usually not open) upon entry to the area; this is being nitpicky, but why can't the walk from the parking garage to the entrance be fully covered? (I was there on a rare rainy night in Vegas); best craft beer bet = surprisingly for a "hip" property, it really sucks; the only decent options require the long walk to Simon; I would give The Palms 3.5 stars, but have to round down instead of up until they do better on mid-tier dining options and add some damn craft beers to their bars!
