  • And now I've been contacted by the business owner. Here is what she said: "Rosie, I'm sorry you came away from my store Loving Nature with such a poor impression. I have contacted Ying Ying to remove me as a source. I have only been online for 1 month so your comment about being shady was extremely hurtful and untrue. I am honest to a fault. I just didn't know how to right the situation then. Please if you would be so kind as to retract those comments. It's very difficult these days to stay in business and negative comments really do not serve either of us well. Thank-you for your consideration. Sincerely Ellen from Loving Nature." And here is my response: "Hi Ellen, Thanks for contacting me about my review. I'm always surprised when a business owner contacts me at my personal address rather than via Yelp. I highly recommend using Yelp for Business Owners in the future. I was told on my visit to your store (not sure if you were the staff person) that in fact, the store never sold the Ying Ying product - that it was being ordered through your business for your sister, not resale, and that Ying Ying was clearly still under the impression that you were selling it. The sales person was aware of it being listed incorrectly on YYSF's website. I chose to leave some of this out in my review. But that's very "shady" to me. Ying Ying lists you as a partner of their business, driving traffic (like me) to your store, when you are not in fact a sales partner. Seems pretty disingenuous to me. And it seems that this was what led to the incorrect listing on YYSF's website in the first place. As you say, I take pride in my honesty, especially on Yelp. And since Yelp is largely made up of a community that is extremely active online, I consider my review a "heads up" to others that the information online about your business was incorrect at the time of my review. (And, actually, still today as well.) Here is a link to an article from Yelp for Business Owners about how to respond to reviews. It is considered inappropriate to ask a reviewer to remove or change a review. https://biz.yelp.ca/support/responding_to_reviews And here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions for business owners you might also find informative. https://biz.yelp.ca/support/common_questions As you can see from my Yelp profile, I am an extremely active member of the community and a member of the Elite Squad for the fifth year running. I take it very seriously. Yelp reminds us: "Negative reviews are an unfortunate -- but entirely normal -- part of doing business. Don't be surprised to read the occasional negative review (we certainly have our own fair share of them, too!). While it's important to look for patterns in your reviews (the bread is stale, the same employee is repeatedly described as rude), you should take any individual perspective with a grain of salt." I will not remove my review. It is an honest and fair reflection of my (frustrating) experience at your store. I will update it now to include this email communication, and If I visit again in the future and have a different experience, I will not hesitate to write another, more positive, update. Take care, Rosie"
