| - Basis for my starred ratings (which skews heavily to the food or drink):
1 star: Never again.
2 stars: Poor food, poor experience, extraordinary measures in order for me to come back.
3 stars: Average, nothing really special, nothing particularly bad.
4 stars: Very good, would definitely return.
5 stars: A favorite, one of the best.
Some of the best sushi to get this far out in the East Valley, by far.
My wife and I have tried the rolls, the nigiri, some noodles, and their katsu. We've also been given some special off-menu items. We have enjoyed everything here and the only reason this place is not 5 stars is because, if I'm going to be fair and honest and compare this place to the best Japanese places we've been, I just can't give it 5 stars. But I say again, this place is very good, especially considering it's location.
The nigiri here is decently priced and is solid. The rolls are actually kind of the specialty here and you can fill up on these guys for a decent price as well. They are a little different from other places, a little more creative.
I'e gotten the katsu here for lunch multiple times and it is solid katsu, it will fill you up for lunch. The noodles here have been fine but probably the weakest of the dishes here.
The owner ships special orders of geoduck and oysters when in-season for the weekends, If they are available, get them. They are a delicious addition to an already solid menu, but because of their freshness, go above and beyond the quality of the other menu items.
This will not be the best sushi of your life, or the best katsu, etc. But it will be very good for a great price. We drive out of our way to get tot his place, you should too.
