I love the fact there's a Vegan friendly cafe smack dab in the middle of the mall conveniently located on The Strip. Although I loathe the fact they charge exorbitant prices to make things Vegan, if they're not already so. The price increases an extra $1, which is reasonable, to $2.95 to make it Vegan. The prices are already slightly higher than I would like to pay, the Vegan price pushes each sandwhich or wrap to nearly $15!
The vast majority of their exquisite looking desserts are Vegan. I picked out the Candy Bar Cake to try myself & the Tiramisu Cake to surprise someone when she arrived the next day.
I ordered a latte to go with my cake. The soapy looking bubbles looked worse than what my Nespresso Aerochino frother could produce at home. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/red-velvet-caf%C3%A9-las-vegas-3?select=6p7WKMOPVHPXjaiNnTPqhg#hUaVL7sWUDBrBXdY_w5H6w Not impressed and the flavor was lacking. All for five-freakin' fifty! They don't charge extra for soy like other places but in the end it's even more expensive and not as good. They don't allow outside food and drinks unless you're a pretty mall employee like the girls that were sitting down drinking their CBTL coffees when I came in.
The frosting of my Candy Bar Cake http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/red-velvet-caf%C3%A9-las-vegas-3?select=6p7WKMOPVHPXjaiNnTPqhg#I8sQenORd5Ct7HGwQrFFsA was super sweet, bordering on too sweet but the saltiness from the caramel coated peanuts helped to balance things out. The cake itself was quite good as I'm ass-uming that it's the base for most of their cakes. Their vanilla cake base is even better. I would recommend you get one of the crumble cakes instead.
The girl behind the counter was quite friendly and helpful. Much needed as it wasn't quite clear that you order at the counter, then sit down to eat before paying. I'll stop in to try another dessert on my next trip to Vegas. I'll just be sure to get it to go and order a coffee elsewhere.
