While I love the idea of the Valley finally getting a place that pushes you beyond your limits, I feel that that execution could be better. Took flexibility class here last week and was not impressed.
First of all, the room itself is not that big and our class was full. It was stuffy with sweaty air when we started but then when the air conditioning would kick in it would get cold.
Also, not a fan of the floor - I understand that it's squishy for safety and falls, but after people walk around barefoot on it with sweaty feet I'm not exactly fond of the positions which have me face down with my head on the floor - gross! I wish that they would ask folks to wear some sort of yoga socks or something.
The biggest gripe I have about the flexibility class is the lack of safety instructions from the teacher. The class was pretty in-depth, and we did some intense stretches including backbends. Unfortunately, the instructor did not give much guidance as far as injury prevention. As someone who has been recovering from a stretching injury for two decades now, I think it's unacceptable, as people who are new to stretching could easily get insured. I got an impression that it's a bit of an amateurish place. Was looking forward to taking other classes here but I think I'll pass.
