| - After spending an evening looking for a dress fit for a wedding, and finding nothing that actually fit, I ended up at Fashion Crimes on Queen Street West.
First thing to note is that FC is not the kind of store you pop into and walk out twenty minutes later with something boring and predictable. I had perused the website prior to visiting and even with that, I was NOT prepared for.how overwhelming this store is when you walk in.
I was greeted by Mary a few minutes in and after doing a round of the store and being lost, I admitted I needed help and asked Mary to assist, which she was more than happy to. Now I'm not one of those girls who everything looks great on. I have some major curves and most box stores just don't design to accommodate real women with boobs. I told Mary I wanted a dress that would hide my midsection while emphasizing the cleave (at the boyfriend's request) and we started picking out dresses.
One of the things I appreciated was that Mary listened to my wants but also suggested a few styles I would normally not have tried on. Anything I was interested in (whether it fit my requirements or not) she pulled for me to try on provided they had my size. She took me back to the fitting rooms and was in the area whenever I needed a zip up and basically the entire time, which was nice. I easily spent over an hour in the store with at least half an hour in the dress I ended up buying. There was no pressure, she wasn't trying to make a sale - I felt confident that I could trust her opinion (keeping in mind she works at the store of course). Furthermore, once I found the dress, she jacked me up with jewelry and shoes to complete the look (annnnnnd I looked fabulous).
Overall, Fashion Crimes is a gem of a store. If you come here and can't find anything then you're far too picky as there are easily hundreds of dresses to pick from. Be warned that you aren't gonna find a $50 dress at this store unless its deeply discounted, but you get what you pay for!! The dresses are gorgeous, some wild and crazy and some demure and feminine, but they have something for everyone. Skip the big box stores and head down to Fashion Crimes to check out their crazy selection of dresses - what are you waiting for??
