| - After moving away from home, I had to find someone to cut my hair so that I didn't look like a yeti in between periods of going home. Also, so that I can look my spiffiest for on campus interviews, recruiting events, and social events.
So duh. I turn to Yelp and find Lando. Based on everyone's review, I go ahead, call them up and get an appointment with Jessica. I arrive on the day of my appointment, and Jessica is finishing up with another customer and is promptly ready for my appointment.
She goes through a quick consultation of what I want with my hair. I'm a guy so I say, "Um... I don't know, shorter, easy to take care of, professional, and it's really thick... so can you maybe thin it out a little?" She smiles and describes what she's going to do, and I say, "Sure. Sounds good."
At this point, she starts cutting my hair, and she's great. She's very easy to talk to, but it doesn't seem like she's forcing it. Or she's just good at faking it. Before I know it, we're done. She puts some product in my hair and it's probably the best haircut I've gotten.
Sure the price is a little more expensive than what you normally would pay at Super Cuts or something, but a haircut is something you get once every 6-8 weeks so it works out to less than $0.50/day for a great haircut.
I've been going there for a year now, and I get a consistent cut every time. I'm at home for the summer and decided to go to an expensive, hip, "Men's only" salon in Wicker Park, and ended up paying more for a haircut I didn't like as much as Jessica's. So I'm literally waiting until I get back on campus to get another haircut at Lando.
That said, if you're reading this review, you obviously care about where you're going to get your hair cut. Do yourself a favor. Call up Lando right now. Request Jessica. You'll love her. I'm sure the other stylists are great too, so don't worry.
