| - Located in Mile End, there's two bagel shops that are heavy in tourist attraction when in Montreal. How did we choose which one?! Since St Viateur was within close proximity to the shops we were most interested in, we made our way here.
We initially passed it since there were no flashy signs, long lines or crowds. The shop is super small for grab and go, but they do offer other breads/pastries if that's something of interest. I was SO tempted to buy a streudel, but I was here with a mission to try the bagels.
Word on the street said sesame and everything were most popular choices, so my friend and I got them. We didn't see any special flavored cream cheese, but these do come at an additional charge. It's about $0.50/each and a single bagel is less than a $1.
Since we enjoyed them on the spot, the bagel had a doughy center with a crisp shell. It was perfection! Sesame had a lightly toasted and nutty aroma, but like the everything bagel, you're gonna leave a trail of seeds/seasonings. Everything had a nice texture with a light onion aftertaste. Not bad, but I preferred sesame.
Definitely a spot worth checking out. We walked by the competition and it was a line out the door. Pending on what you want or how hungry you are, do your research and pick the one that's best for you!
