  • When I see a flyer for Factory Direct, I can't help but want to scan it in great detail to see what ridiculously cheap deals they have in store for the week. And trust me they have some good deals. But to me, I think quality outweighs buying cheap ass quality or to some extent, refurbished goods. i don't want to get slack, and I'm by no means a snob against buying greatly reduced items. But I've heard of and experienced first hand buying some really shady things at Factory Direct. When you buy things there, you know there's always a risk. Returning the item sometimes isn't an option because they do charge a re-stocking fee. So you really have to do your research and figure out if it's really worth it. I've gotten DVD-Rs from there way back when , which proved to be super shitty quality. Most of them were coasters! You're better off waiting for Best Buy or Future Shop to have them on sale. In terms of electronics, again be careful. If it's something that has a tendency to break easily, I'd hold off from buying it here. If it's a cable or some external component that's fairly cheap, go for it. Go into the store well researched because you aren't going to get much help from store employees. Know what you want and just be careful. You can buy something for 50% cheaper than retail, but when you're going to have to buy another one to replace the broken item 6 months later, is it really worth it?
