  • When the owner actually participates and leads by example, the service should be good.... ...not at Windy City Wash and Wax: the service is AMAZING. When I got there, I was given an estimated time of 2 hours: now that is a good amount of time for sure... and I almost thought of leaving, but I thought I'd give Windy City a chance. Windy City follows the best practices of the industry: pre wash to remove the bulk of the dirt and grime, separate cleaning mitts for the lower half of the car, separate mitts for cleaning the rims. Then soap and suds is applied and different mitts are used are used to lift the grime away. They even popped the gas cover to detail that area (this is the kind detail I do when I wash my car so I was impressed and I began to think that the 2 hour wait was justified). These guys move fast but do not cut corners or miss a spot (they actually RUN to grab a hose or a bucket: I was convinced that they were moving as fast as humanly possible and I was so mesmerized, a two hour wait was totally justified to me at this point). When the wash was done, they moved my car to a different spot then proceeded to use compressed air to blow out water from crevasses like the side view mirrors, grill, rims and around the head and tail lights. They applied some tire dressing then they moved my car back a few feet and reapplied the dressing to ensure that the entire tire was covered: just like the gas cap detail, I move my car to evenly clean and dress my tires... and I have NEVER seen any other car detailer do this... AMAZING. I was observing this all from a well appointed lounge: free water and wi-fi. They will provide you with a charger for your phone or tablet and the music was a very pleasant chill/electronic. There was a panoramic view into the enclosed wash area. When it was time to pay, I was told that the guys have my keys but I should inspect the car and point out any concerns: I did a quick check and found nothing... but I was going to wax the car myself at home so I was going to REALLY check things out then, All I could find was a very small spot: and I found it only because I was waxing the car. I always wax the door jams, but I also wax the area around the trunk opening. I expect the door jams to be clean but the area around the trunk is usually overlooked... not with Windy City: when I opened my trunk to clean and wax around the trunk gasket, Windy City beat me to it: and it was squeaky clean with no grit or grime. The level of focus, dedication and meticulous attention detail by Windy City Wash and Wax is UNSURPASSED by anyone in my experience.
