| - This is one of those places that has an interesting interior and focuses on trying to keep an above decent selection of Draft and import beers in stock. Which makes it VERY interesting as that puts it into direct competition with The Village Idiot next door -- which although has a more pub-like decor has a fairly large selection of beers as well.
Which one is better? Prices and selection are almost on par, as most of the beers are in the $6-$8 range, but the reality of the matter is that it really depends on the decor you prefer. Since both places are in other regards, *almost* the same.
Since perhaps they did not think anyone would notice but their beer menus, aside the country ordering of BOTH locales are almost identical.

...They even share the same bloody font.
I just know, that somewhere out there, there is a graphic designer who is seeing that and facepalming right about now.
As per the name alludes to, S&R has what I would call a far more moody decor with its darker wood tones, slightly less incoming light, and overall cave-like-vibe in comparison to TVI's far more traditional pub setup. The food for both places is also pretty much the same both in quality and general price and although I have never taken the time to investigate, I would assume they probably share a kitchen too.
Interior decor aside, the main difference to me is this, would you like your table to look onto a "MEH" street or into a corner intersection? If you want the former go to S&R if you want the latter, go to TVI.
Check both out and you can play "find the difference" with your friends.
