We came to the Hofbrau House as soon as it opened on a Friday for a special promotion luncheon for work. We ended up parking a couple blocks away in a parking garage which was fine, but I would have been happier if the valet was all day and not just for the dinner hours. We were greeted and met our party near the back of the restaurant. The seating is just like you would find at an authentic Oktoberfest in Germany, long community tables. I was so excited to try the food and hoped it would taste like the food did when we lived in Bavaria. Of course we started off with some Hefe Weizen, goes down like silk. Smooth and sweet just like I remember it. We also ordered the Pretzel and Bier cheese app and the Works Combo appetizers for the tables. Loved the sauerkraut balls and the potato pancakes with the apple sauce were fantastic! That works platter would also be good as an entrée, a little bit of everything. I went with the original schnitzel for my entrée. A huge piece of lightly breaded pork, still tender and juicy on the inside with cabbage, buttered spazetzle(substituted this for the potato salad) and a side of cranberries. I had never though of having cranberries with pork, but it was an amazing accompaniment. Loved it! It was also a very large serving with plenty of leftovers to take home. My husband had the Hot Brown. No bread in this as it had the potato pancakes for the base, tons of turkey, gravy tomato and bacon. This was the perfect sized lunch meal. During our meal there was also a man playing an accordion so we had some live German music. Definitely want to come back here again. Great food, great beer.
