I hate being the lone dissenter and I feel bad as the service was very sweet and nice. I unfortunately didn't find the tea good enough for me to return. Definitely above average but not a 4 star.
I've been on a big coffee and tea binge this year with trying as many new and wonderful locally owned places. I've discovered Sloane teas (from Toronto!) in addition to Plentea in Parkdale who makes their own teas from raw ingredients. T by Daniel has been on that list of places to discover since the beginning and I finally got a chance to try this place.
The little cafe is found in the heart of downtown Brampton. Parking can be a bit wild on the weekends especially when the farmers market or festivals are in full swing. It's not like Queen St Toronto though. The cafe is bright and open with a lot more seating in the back. The front section is large enough to accommodate a few groups waiting for their teas (more on this later).
We were greeted when entering the cafe and it was a nice and quiet place. We were discussing with them what we'd like to drink. We wanted something cold and a stronger tea flavour... the lion chai frappucino was the first thing offered and we were even given a small sample to try. We also wanted to try another item so we could see the different flavours. A black tea named Canadian Eh? was selected for us in an Iced version. We both chose the coconut powder creamer instead of cow's milk.
The person started making it and you can tell that this wasn't some sort of tea bag but rather loose leaves steeped and then mixed and stirred to you got our final drinks. As she was letting this steep, she rang us in and it was a very reasonable price. She was also quite cute to recognize us as first time customers too. As we were waiting to get our drinks, we noticed the line build in the cafe quite quickly. As sweet as the person was, she was only one person on a weekend afternoon and it was going to be a longer wait time with the growing line.
Iced Canadian Eh? tea - I really wanted to like the drink but my Iced Canadian was milky white... I have a picture of it in and there's barely any brown shades to it. The taste was just a watery vanilla ice cream milkshake and just as painfully sweet. It's unfortunate because I've had some great iced teas lately. I would be hard pressed to call this an iced tea. 2/5
Lion Chai Frappucino - felt like a distant cousin to the Tim Horton's Iced Capp... it was a nice blended consistency but very sweet with some decent spices but minimal tea flavour. It was the definite top flavour compared to the Iced Canadian eh? I felt I was the wrong target audience as this was more of an adult version of the TH Iced Capp and I was looking more of a wonderful iced tea that happen to be not boring but wonderfully spiced and just enough sweetness to temper any bitter tea leaf notes. 3.5/5
I do think the service is very sweet and very personal. I did enjoy it and give kudos to that. I just dont think this drink is the tea for me.
