On March 2016 I had my crankshaft sensor replaced on my 2008 Jeep Patriot with diagnostic codes P0335 and P0171. It is what I expected to be the problem based on diagnostics and the problem was rectified. On Thursday, September 7th 2017, a similar problem presented itself. A vehicle diagnostic showed the same codes previously displayed for the previous condition. I was out of town through the weekend, and brought my car in to be serviced on Tuesday September 12th 2017. I requested that the previous cause be investigated. The store reset the computer and came back with a completely new code (P2004). The technician then recommended a different service (replacing exhaust manifold) to fix the problem, assuring me that should fix the problem. The technician then stated that the manifold replacement only takes about 1 and 1/2 hours while the other job took 4 hours. The service I had in March 2016 requested cost around $350. The technician recommended service cost me around $650. I picked up my car later that day and in less than 5 miles the same symptoms emerged. I wasn't able to return it immediately due to the fact I was back on my way to work. It appears the store wanted an easier job that netted them more money. The store offered me a free diagnostic and nothing else to rectify not fixing my car.
