Went with a group of co-workers prior to convention and booked a 630 appt. for Zombie virus. We took Uber to get here and he had a tough time finding it since it was basically in a block of office buildings. Not what I expected. Im sure its more busy during the week but on the weekend, the area is a ghost town. We were greeted at the door by gun point and it took a minute to realize it was part of the whole experience. We finally get in and we had to sign the waiver through our cell phones. It was easy but there are still some people in the world who may not have one. Waited another 10 mins and they asked us to put our belongings in this box outside the door, esp cell phones because you can't use it while in the room. I was a little concerned about leaving my purse full of cash in this unmanned and unlocked box. Other groups do come in this area. Nothing was missing, but don't feel good about that part.
We enter the room and it is hot and severely smokey/hazey using a smoke machine. You can barely see much in front of you. Not good if you have asthma. Me and another person started feeling quite ill but didn't want to ruin it for the group so I was not very productive during the first 20 mins. Luckily, the smoke eventually dissipated and they turn on the air. The room was much smaller than expected. Every ten mins or so they slip you a clue through the door. You get an hour to complete the escape. My biggest gripe other than the smoke is that one of the lock boxes was damaged so it was really hard to open even with the right combo. We didn't make it out in time but would have if I had gotten off my lazy butt up to figure the last clue because I got it right when our time was up.
It was a fun thing to do outside of work with co-workers but didn't feel the price (6 x $25) was worth the experience for an hour. A little bit cheesy. Not scary at all. Just a lot of Halloween props. Finally, chill out with the smoke effect. I know its in the disclaimer but crap, I couldn't breathe and you can't see a thing.
