  • I feel like a bit of heel writing this, because usually when I complain about something, I like to offer constructive criticism as well because just complaining about something doesn't get it fixed. Yet almost everything I'm going to list here cannot be easily or readily fixed, at least in my opinion, and even after reflecting on the problems going on at this location, I can't really come up with good solutions to these problems. Let's start with the positives. First of all, unlike a lot of others, I like being able to pick my seats because it finally gets people to organize and allows for a better way to make sure those who want to sit together get to do so. I like the new seats, I like the new layout, I like the cleanliness of the place. For the negative side, and the only problem I can present a possible solution, the lighting on the stairs in the theater rooms needs to be dimmed. Not turned off, because of course that would be stupid, but dimmed, especially those who sit right next to them. They are way too bright and are bright enough to distract as if the person next to you is on their phone with the brightness turned up all the way. Please fix this. As for the other couple of problems...well these are more difficult. For a two and a half hour movie that is supposed to begin at 2:30, first we have to go through fifteen minutes of previews, then thank you's from the cast for coming to the movie, and then, because this was a Pixar movie, watch a ten minute short all before the damn movie began! By the time everything was finished up and the movie actually started we were almost a half an hour from our original start time! I get them you have to show the previews (I like the previews), I get that you have to show the shorts (I like the shorts), but with so many previews and then other nonsense in between it just takes forever to actually get to the main event. It just seems like such a waste of time. The other problem is the lines at the concession. There are plenty of registers open, and the lines are not too long at all, but it feels like forever to get them to move. Every transaction seems to take at least eight to ten minutes to complete and that's really awful when you arrive just ten minutes before your movie so you don't have to wait too long in your seat (although again, the actual movie takes a half hour to start after the posted time, so why am I complaining right?). This problem isn't just the employee's fault. Really the customers seem to be contributing to this problem too, because they don't ask for everything at once. First they want popcorn, so the employee goes and gets that, then they want drinks, then they have questions, then they want other things, and the employee has to do everything in the order they are told! So while the lines aren't too long, they never seem to move! I stood in line for five minutes with two other people in front of me and never moved forward! I finally gave up and just went to my seat because I only had two minutes before showtime. How can Harkins fix this problem though? No idea! What are they going to do, tell the employees that they are allowed to rush customers or even just cut them off from spending money? So yeah, that's just my two cents. The movie was great, and I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so, but maybe at a lesser amount than in the past, because instead of just about two hours of my life that going to a movie takes up, now it just feels like four or even five somehow. I'm sorry for rambling. Thank you for your hard work.
