  • **MAY 2017 UPDATE - adjusted to 1 star based on recent experience** Per the below review I had second thoughts about keeping my follow-up appointment but Distilled solidified that decision to cancel. On May 2, I received a call regarding my appointment on May 7. The individual on the phone indicated they were calling about my appointment to which I responded and said I was thinking of canceling. The response I got landed along the lines of, "yeah because you're the one who wrote that review (review below) right. I'll cancel your appointment." If I had called to cancel I think this brisk and somewhat rude response would have been slightly more acceptable, but clearly Distilled saw my review and was calling to ensure we didn't come back (my friend received the same call and rude caller). This entire experience has confirmed that we will never return to Distilled. Rather addressing any of the shortfalls mentioned below they made it clear they weren't interested in our business. Since the owner called me personally but neglected to try and improve the experience, I strongly believe Distilled's philosophy of business is to serve themselves first and their customers last. Save your money folks and go somewhere where your hard earned $$$ is appreciated. Pampering, wine and a full service coffee bar - what more can you ask for? Conceptually, this place is fantastic and I really, really wanted to love it but after my service, I found the execution a bit poor. I'll start off with the good and why I kept on flip flopping between 2 or 3 stars. As mentioned, the space itself is beautiful and chic - somewhere I can definitely see myself spending an afternoon (or all day). My tech was very friendly and super helpful in helping me find the perfect color and even pointed out why some colors wouldn't look good on my skin tone. Loved that. The tea I ordered also came in a super cute pot and cup - kudos to whoever conceptualized this place thought of all the little details! Now here's the bad: 1. When I called and requested a gel overlay, I was under the assumption I was getting a gel overlay where I would need to get fills. When I got there I was given a hard gel polish similar to shellac/gelish which would require soaking off and reapplying. In fact the girl who I spoke to on the phone didn't seem to know the difference. 2. Upon entering the salon I wasn't given much direction on where to go, or how I could order a drink. My friend was slightly late but the entire time I was waiting (about 10min) I wasn't provided with a menu. In fact I had to ask to order a tea and still wasn't given a menu so I chose just a plain green tea although I would have chosen the well tea since I was so sick had known it was available! 3. Onto the service itself. My tech was great, but didn't seem to have any previous knowledge of how to use the akzentz gel - she had to ask another girl how to use and apply. I asked for more rounded nails but received lopsided squarish ones instead. When I say lopsided I mean one side of my nail would be higher than the other side and this happened on about 5 nails. As for the polish itself, several of my nails are streaky with some parts not completely opaque like other areas. So, after spending $80 for the service, gratuity and tea I'm disappointed with the outcome. I specifically came here to avoid the cheap nail chop shops and with the amount I paid, I shouldn't have to go home and file/shape my nails myself. I rebooked since I was on the spot and my tech was seriously so nice, but I just don't know that it's worth returning. Beautiful place with great attention to the small design details but maybe more focus should be put on the actual services... *I also just noticed we didn't receive the aromatic hot towel as part of our service
