| - Average at best.
We were "welcomed" in by the hostess whose only words were "For two?" ...yes. Seats us at our table, sets the menus down and walks away. So much for that welcome.
Our server was the best part of our experience. I believe her name was Sandy. She, unlike the hostess, was very welcoming, friendly and answered all of our questions as first time guests. Our food (including gratis Pots of Bread) was brought out promptly, so we appreciated that.
My Waffle Benedict meal was a 3/5. Pepper flavor of the home fries was a little overpowering. Waffle was light and fluffy, Hollandaise was creamy and flavorful. But the Canadian bacon was way too thick for a Benedict. It was like chewing on a piece of leather. In my humble opinion, Kailyn's Kitchen still wins for best Benny in town.
In addition, I have to add that I was not offered a refill of coffee until our check came. Big deal. They would've scored those points back had they provided a restaurant-style thermos with more coffee at the table, if they're too busy to check up on us...come on, even IHOP does that. Yes, I went there.
We were passed with the check and thanked by Sandy. No message to pay at the register, so we sat awkwardly with our payment for several minutes before having to figure it out ourselves. We get to see the lovely hostess again, who says nothing as we give her our card and check. "Would you like your receipt?" Is this McDonald's? Yes we would. Handed our check without so much as have a nice day.
Perhaps it was an off day for these people. Unfortunately not a great impression was left for us as first timers. Consistency is the key to the success of a small business, and if you can't master that art, you will miss out on a lot of opportunity.
