Even though you're taking time away from getting wasted on the Las Vegas strip at noon to drive to the biggest mound of concrete on the Western side of the USA, the Hoover Dam is a great experience.
I have gone to this Dam thing a few times, once while I was younger with my family. It was exciting to tell my fellow 10-year-old friends how I got to walk back and forward between Arizona and Nevada.
More recently my boyfriend and I took a "couples trip" to LV. So we decided to drive to the Dam. When we got there we drove in to Arizona and parked in the visitor parking. It's a $7 dollar fee.
Then we remembered MEGATRON lived here. So we yelled for him to see if he wanted to come out and play. He must have been sleeping because he never answered back. :-(
The next time we came to this Dam we brought a friend who was more interested in seeing the history of the Dam. So we paid for a Dam Tour. It was $11 dollars for the basic Dam tour. The video they showed before the tour gives you the history of the Dam and how long it took to build, and why it's called "The Hoover Dam." After, you go under the Dam and they show you their Dam generaters and Dam tunnels. There is a lot of Dam history here! At the end you can walk around on their Dam observation deck. and read different Dam facts.
Any who, we drove back to Vegas and got our drink on! It is nice to get away from the guys and gals who click those hooker cards at you during the day on the strip!
