Went in the other day to workout with a friend, and I've been interested in getting a membership. So I walk in and tell the front desk rep that I had never been to this club before. He turns around and let's the membership advisors know, and the GM (no name tag) called me back to his desk to talk. Didn't get a handshake, didn't get a name. After going through pricing, I told him my only objection was the initiation fee. I know every gym has workarounds to pricing and fees, and I wanted to dig and see what the best offer for me was before making a decision. Well, the GM decided to ask me, "What makes you feel so entitled that you think you shouldn't pay the initiation fee?" Which then threw the idea of getting my money out the window. I just wanted to see if there was a better deal for me. I understand his thought process, but the way he presented it could have been much more professional. I may join at a different location, but not this one as the customer service & attitude of management is poor.
