I feel that I have to let others know of my experience. I think the guy who was helping the girl helping us (she was inexperienced) was messing with us. We spent more than 20 minutes with the woman doing nothing and finally the guy came up and said 'let's give you an upgrade'. We paid full price for a Standard car and then got an 'upgrade'. We basically got a Rent A Wreck. It was an old Impala that had 37,000 miles (yes, I had to take a picture). The car had Oregon plates (not dissing Oregon) and was filled with dings, scratches and the back emblem was missing. It was actually embarrassing driving it around. I know I should have gone back to the desk and got a different one but we needed to get going. Especially when we noticed the AC was struggling to work (Yes, we should have gone back).
In afterthought, I am AMAZED that this one wasn't taken out of the fleet thousands of miles ago...unless the company save vehicles like this to give the agents the ability to mess with customers they 'see fit to mess with'. I will never rent a vehicle from Hertz again.
This was the low point of our vacation!
